Don’t you love the first day of school? All promise and anticipation and reunions. Newly sharpened pencils, fresh white paper tablets, new notebooks! Such hope. such anticipation. Such “new-ness.”
The trick, I think, is sustaining the “first day of school” feeling through the first month and the first sememster and day #158. But that’s the trick with anything, isn’t it? Keeping on when the “new” wears off. Restoring the luster to the surface. Knowing that the luster is under there and just waiting for us to polish the tarnish off so we can see it.
